Aberdeen, OMG

So things are different here. I'm sitting in the library, using the WiFi, minding my own business, and some joker burps. Big, long, rowdy burping. Twice. Now he's farting. Oh the humanity.

The library isn't quite the promised land of quick hold gets that the Andrews-Strpinis family promised. I am 82nd in line for "Fiasco," and I can't quite seem to get holds on anything else. One hold at a time? Software bug? I don't know.

In other weirdness news, I washed a load in Michael's house's washer (where I'm staying until my apt. is ready to be moved into) and found a pair of panties from the previous owner.

This town has some openess issues.

And Tacoma was so nice when I left it. My landlord didn't prorate me for the week I stayed there this month, and didn't even bother to do a walkthrough. When I told her I couldn't get the scunge off the stove inserts, she waved it off and told me not to worry about it. Sigh. That makes three topics I'm too biased to write fairly about: the YMCA, Les Schwab tires (a Northwest chain, they lent me a tire when I bought chains in LaGrande, Ore. on my trip up and the guy who helped me put them on (without the $10 they usually charge to put chains on for a customer) noticed they were about to go) and any property owned by John Peranzi.

So there you go.

Welcome to Aberdeen!

It gets better. You've gone to the beaches, right? They rock. Lake Quinault? Best hiking. EVER. The road trip to Taholah is just awe inspiring. Plus you have nifty reporter friends who will buy you food and make you feel welcome!

Best places to eat:

Deidra's Deli in Hoquiam -- (I might be spelling that wrong). It's located at the Farmer's Market heading into Hoquiam (there's only one way to head into Hoquiam so you can't miss it. Plus there are lots of signs). Lots of food, cheap prices.

The Islander in Westport -- great place. Fantastic views of the marina. Good portions of food, not as cheap.

Galloway Bay in Ocean Shores -- Irish Pub! And sometimes there's an old dude who sings limrics! Admit it. That's right up your alley. GREAT actual Irish food. I dig the sausage rolls. Lots of food, decent prices.

There's a great Thai place in Aberdeen called the Thai Karot (I am positive I spelled that wrong). Head out to the SouthShore Mall and it's to your left before you get to where you need to turn to get to the mall. Lots of food, cheap prices for what you're getting.

OH! And then there are the Yak burgers at Billy's... uh.. don't ask :)

Welcome, fellow Harborite!

The big move to Aberdeen ... sounds like an exciting place so far! If you're up for visitors once you get into your new place, give me a call because I'd love to come hang out there for a bit -- we may have to hit up Ocean Shores though, because I can't be that close and not go.

Anyways, I hope the new job starts out well! Good luck!

Actually, they were big white briefs. Big ole granny pannies. With paint bits on them. Because she painted in her undies? Because they were a rag? The world may never know.
