Went on my very first Volksmarch today at NW Trek, a local Metroparks-run nature trail-y, animal-having park (that is having trouble from its benefactor, Mr. or Dr. Heller, who has his own parking spot there). It was a free event — the park normally costs about $10 to get in — and I've been meaning to see NW Trek.
It was a pretty park, but because we were doing the pink, 10K trail, by the time we got out of the nature trail part it was rainy and cold and Beth and Chris were hungry so doing the side with the animals was out of the question. Beth wondered why I was not hungry because we had all eaten at approximately the same time — they had McD's, I had a bowl of my dark master Frosted Mini-Wheats — because I had not had a protein injection (nor fat!) that they had; I figure it has something to do with FMW being the best, fibrous, filling breakfast food ever. I believe in FMW.
I have probably consumed more FMW than any other person my age or within 10 years of it.
Also in food news we stopped at Vuelve a la Vida, the Mexican place with all the hoopla, and I thought it was totally worth it. Ate ceviche for the first time since Ecuador. It tasted wonderful on a tostada. Beth had goat for the first time, so there was some more new thingness in the house.
Apparently "Vuelve a la Vida" is Mexican for ceviche. What a lovely name, "Return to Life." Not the mariscos, you, silly.
